Chrome Extension Support

Last updated: May 11, 2026

Help for using the free CapRateCity Chrome extension. For privacy details, see extension privacy.

Installing the Extension

  • Open the CapRateCity Chrome Web Store page.
  • Click "Add to Chrome."
  • When prompted, review the permissions and accept.
  • Pin the extension to your toolbar so you can see when it's active.

The extension works in any Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera). It is not available for Firefox or Safari today.

Using the Extension

Visit any supported listing page (such as a Zillow or Redfin listing). The extension automatically reads the listing details and displays a panel with cap rate, cash flow, cash-on-cash, DSCR, and other investment metrics. You can adjust default expense and financing assumptions in the extension settings.

Troubleshooting

  • The panel didn't appear. Make sure the extension is enabled. Refresh the listing page after enabling.
  • Numbers look wrong. Open extension settings and review your default vacancy, expense, interest rate, and down-payment assumptions. They drive the math.
  • The listing site looks different. Listing sites change layouts. If the extension breaks after a site update, please report it (see Contact below).
  • The panel covers content. Use the toggle to hide the panel. It will remember your preference.
  • Wrong rent estimate. Many listings don't include a rent number. The extension falls back to the metro-level Zillow ZORI median for that area. Override it manually when you know the actual rent.

Permissions Explained

The extension requests only the permissions it needs to read listing-page content on supported real-estate sites and to store your preferences locally. The exact set is described on the Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension manifest. The extension does not transmit data to CapRateCity. See extension privacy for details.

Uninstalling

Right-click the extension icon in your toolbar and choose "Remove from Chrome." Any locally stored preferences are removed when you uninstall.
